Welcome to the Plateau
Who: Open Post!
What: A trip through L-Space
Where: Maple White Land
Warnings: Dinosaurs doing dinosaur things
[Today's Library invitation is in a much hastier scrawl. This book is several shelves along from the last, slim and unassuming, with a battered paper bookmark stuck exactly into Chapter 11, as the invitation directed.]

[Once you've tumbled through, you'll find yourself on the top of a beautiful plateau, overlooking miles of beautiful sweeping South American rain forest and flood lands, lush and vibrant and-- well, really quite far below. There's a rough tumble for anyone seeking to get down, now that they've arrived. Better to look at the tall forest you've arrived at instead, which... well, upon closer examination, doesn't look quite right. The plants seem a little larger and just slightly unusual, although it's hard to put a finger on why.
Thankfully, a bit of exploring fairly near the edge of the plateau will lead to a very tidy little base camp, where a collection of arguing professors, a globetrotting sportsman, and a young rugby-player-turned-reporter will happily answer questions about this strange place you've landed in. They might even show you a map as best as they've managed to concoct, with appropriate warnings about the forests all around and the rocky mountains farther north. One, at least, will also advise against moving too quickly, lest you fall into any of the deep pit-traps dotting the plateau on the way down toward the giant central lake.
Oh, and they'll probably warn you to keep an eye open for the dinosaurs. They've seen a number of pterodactyls and a herd of iguanodons, at least one stegosaurus, and--if the youngest member of the party is to be believed, something decidedly carnivorous has already given them chase.
Good luck!]

Edward Malone | The Lost World
[Once the shock of unusual visitors wears off, Malone is certain he ought to take point on fielding questions. It isn't that the others aren't more knowledgeable--they are. Beyond more knowledgeable.
But it's a hard thing to let a newly arrived stranger be verbally attacked by Professor Challenger or sneered at by Professor Summerlee or painfully intimidated by the general competence of Lord John. No, the welcome committee ought to be the person who seemed least likely to cause as much panic as the flying prehistoric beasts that came swooping down now and again.]
All right, then?
b. lovely lake gladys
[It's impossible to say if more strangers will be appearing at random, so life simply has to press on at some point. The day was meant to involve finding their way back to the lake, so back to the lake Malone will go.
It's much more peaceful in broad daylight, without the terrible uncertainty of monsters moving in the darkness. The ripples of the surface are clearer, which is... a bit horrifying, now that the outlines of far larger ancient beasts can be seen properly.
Which is foremost in Malone's mind, one hand waving off anyone else wandering close to the edge.] --easy. Dunno if this one's a snapper.
c. extra exploits
[find him elsewhere like a helpful buddy!]
The Artful Dodger | Oliver Twist
The tidy little base camp was his first port of call, and he did his usual mooch around, looking at whatever he could, even if he couldn't understand what it was. He eyed up the maps with a strange intensity, as if he was mentally calculating the prices he might get.
He might swear very loudly when he first spots one of the dinosaurs but a bloke's allowed to be a bit taken aback by the sight of some bloody big reptile wandering around, alright?!
